Situation

Yakima Chief / Hopunion, headquartered in the Yakima Valley of Washington, is the preeminent processor and marketer of highly sought aroma hops used by craft brewers in North America and alpha hops used by mass market brewers around the globe. As part of the merger of the two entities, new credit facilities were needed to fund payments to growers and to support expanded production in the face of burgeoning demand.

ZS Role

Zachary Scott was engaged to arrange credit for the merged entity to allow the company to fund its joint business plan.  As part of this effort, ZS explained the economics of the combined businesses and solicited competing proposals to fund the company.

Result

A five-year financing commitment for more than $80 million of revolving and term financing on attractive terms was arranged for the merged company.
