CleanScapes is the largest independent waste collection and recycling company in western Washington, serving over 85,000 residential and commercial customers in Seattle, Shoreline, and Des Moines. Beginning in July of 2012, the Company will provide exclusive collection in the City of Issaquah. Inc. Magazine recently named CleanScapes the nation’s fastest growing environmental services company. In order to continue its rapid growth, the Company sought to align itself with a partner that could provide expertise and capital to fund new initiatives.

ZS Role

Zachary Scott was engaged as the exclusive financial advisor to represent the owners in a review of all strategic alternatives. Zachary Scott organized a competitive process whereby proposals from industry participants and private equity investors could be considered simultaneously.

Results

The decision was made for CleanScapes to combine with Recology, an integrated waste collection, recycling, and disposal company with over 600,000 residential and 60,000 business customers operating in California, Oregon, and Nevada. The acquisition provides Recology a platform for expansion in the Washington State market.
